Biomedical Engineer III

The Biomedical Engineering department is responsible for the oversight and management of all patient care equipment and associated technology deployed at our client hospital. It is responsible for providing quality and timely support by planning, organizing, controlling and coordinating medical technology within the framework of existing policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.  The Biomedical Engineer III acts as the expert on particular classes of complex medical equipment, most of which are integrated with the hospital's EMR system. They perform equipment evaluation prior to equipment purchase and provides technical "ownership" of the assigned classes of equipment. He/ She is responsible for ensuring that hardware, software upgrades and patches are up to date and safe for use for patient and staff; Performs receiving checks, safety checks, maintenance, calibration and fault finding on biomedical patient care equipment; Uses fully digital test devices which integrate an automated BME testing solution into an advanced CAFM application and a Wi-Fi based facility-wide RFID/RTLS tracking system. Requirements 
• Minimum 5+ years senior level hands on technical experience in the Biomedical Engineering in a large, tertiary hospital, commissioning and performing preventive maintenance services as per manufacturer's published procedures in medical diagnostic imaging devices. • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Technology • Demonstrated experience participating in JCAHO/JCI surveys • Proven technical background in multiple areas of Biomedical Engineering (i.e. OR, Anesthesia, Imaging, Laboratory, IT/IM Systems, etc.) • Skilled in the use of electronic medical equipment database programs • Understanding of automated test equipment concepts • Familiar with the JCIA, AAMI, ECRI, NFPA, ANSI, FDA, etc. and the ability to implement the latest standards. • Skilled in the understanding of current electrical safety codes. • Comfortable in English public speaking situations, leading/facilitating meetings and able to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences • X-ray service with experience on cath.lab/angio/c-arm/mobile X-ray(high to low end X-ray). • Ultrasound service with background either in low end X-ray/c-arm/mobile. • MRI with background in CT or Nuclear medicine.  In addition to above clinical equipment expertise we would prefer the candidates to have 5 years or more of commissioning and performing preventive maintenance services as per manufacturer's published procedures in medical diagnostic imaging devices.

Notifies the Senior Radiographer of malfunctions or need for repair and documents same. • Responsible for ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained. Positions radiographic equipment correctly and adjusts magnification and collimation as per protocol. • Responsible for editing, archiving and retrieving patient images through the networking and media storage systems. Maintains the accuracy of the network through the work stations on a daily basis. • Responsible for the collection and distribution of radiation monitoring devices on a monthly basis. Distributes report findings to all staff and maintains a log book. • Responsible for annual cleaning and screening of radiation protection devices.
