Sewerage Inspector

Atkins is looking to recruit a Sewerage Inspector for an Infrastructure and Public Realm project, under our client Musanada. The project comprises of design, supervision of roads, infrastructure works & the irrigation line for the entire Bani Yas area on Abu Dhabi mainland

Responsibilities:

Familiarise and assist in the review of contractor’s Shop Drawings & make comments for Sewerage/Storm Water, Potable Water and Irrigation Works;
Familiarise and assist in the review of contractor’s Material Submittals and Method Statements;
Check that all required inspections are carried out and the QA/QC documentation is issued and filed for the Storm Water, Potable Water and Irrigation Works;
Assess whether site conditions are suitable prior to construction activity;
Attend Work Inspection Requests, assess whether construction activities and execution are in accordance with approved drawings, method statements and material submittals;
Assist in raising NCR’s.
Ensure RE/ARE’s instructions are being carried out;
Co-ordinate with Land Surveyor for setting-out, levels, etc.
Check services locations and ensure their protection;
Record results of inspections, tests, work executed;
Assist in inspect materials delivered to site and assets whether they are in accordance with approvals and correctly stored;
Observe site safety procedures, and notify contractor of any safety breaches;
Maintain daily diary of construction activities and any unusual occurrence;
Record progress of completed works for inclusion in monthly reports;
Assist in the review of “as-built” drawings, and make comments;
Prepare defects lists for inspected works and issue non-compliance reports for non-compliant works;
Provide regular information to Engineers with regards to all site activities including progress, quality and health and safety issues.

Computer literacy and excellent communication skills is essential.

Sewerage Engineer

Atkins is looking to recruit a Sewerage Engineer for an Infrastructure and Public Realm project, under our client Musanada. The project comprises of design, supervision of roads, infrastructure works & the irrigation line for the entire Bani Yas area on Abu Dhabi mainland.

Responsibilities:

Carry out daily inspections of all Sewerage/Storm water work and sign off the relevant part of the contractor’s RFI’s in a timely manner.
Raise any non-conformances or poor workmanship with the Coordinator in a timely manner.
Raise any safety issues with the Safety Officer and also keep the Coordinator informed.
Supervise the production of co-ordination of the Potable Water, Storm Water, Irrigation, Telecom.
Review Contract Documents and Contractor design submissions and assist in co-ordination with other disciplines to ensure constructability;
Review and comment on Contractor’s technical construction submissions, including Shop Drawings, Material Submittals, Method Statements, Daily Reports, Work Inspection Requests, etc.;
Supervise contractor’s site works is carried out as per approved Shop drawings, specifications and material submittals, and review and maintain QA/QC, and associated documentation, including issuance of NCR’s, etc. and associated registers;
Issuance of NCR’s, follow-up Close-out Action Plans, etc. as required against poor quality of works by Contractors.
Maintain daily site diaries and records
Prepare responses to RFI’s, and assist with preparing Change Requests, Variation Orders, Extension of Time, etc.;
Manage and monitor site inspection staff;
Verify measures of works completed and prepare monthly reports progress vs programme;
Observe site health and safety and issue notices as appropriate;
Report to Resident Engineer and update on issues as required;
Attend inspections with Authorities;
Liaise with all parties for health and site safety, and follow-up identified risks;
Participate in planning & assist in resolution of issues in a timely manner;
Participate and witness in the Testing and Commissioning, and in co-ordination with the relevant Authorities
Check for accuracy and completeness of records, including As Built documentation, O&M’s;
Joint inspection of the site condition and preparation of snags list along with the project consultant team and the contractor.
Prepare documentation for the completed works for Employer handover.
Liaise with the relevant Authority / Municipality for relevant approvals

Senior Project Controls Manager

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Project Controls Manager to form part of our Project Management Consultant (PMC) project team, based on a large defence and telecoms project in Riyadh. The main objective of the PMC is to implement and manage the overall Development Programme, which includes telecom & infrastructure enhancement works. The Senior Project Controls Manager is responsible for the leadership, direction, management and performance of a project controls team and shall be expected to assist the Client in any way possible to ensure the project is completed to the required timescales and within their stated budgets. The project is expected to last for 18 months.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Project Controls Manager’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage the Project Controls team
Interface with the project management team and all key stakeholders.
Manage the weekly and monthly progress report protocols / templates for progress reporting and monitoring progress against it.
Manage the preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports/presentations for the client.
Assisting in establishing / delivering formal reporting arrangements on project progress for the client and project.
Prepare project advice for any site progress / planning concern that may impact site progress.
Prepare and manage the daily escalation report for project managers.
Overseeing the preparation of risk assessments and mitigation plans.
Ensure and manage effective information and document transfer at all levels
Establishing the document coding structure for all documents.
Manage and develop the document control system and communication flow for the project.
Ensure procurement, material and submittal logs are created and maintained.
Manage and identify long lead items.
Manage the consultant selection process for commercial and technical evaluation.
Cost reporting (with data provided by others).
Reviewing contract documents, suggesting changes for planning and programming aspects and the addition of new clauses if necessary.
Manage the design, procurement and construction progress for compliance with contract requirements.
Arrange and manage planning workshops/meetings to discuss and assist contractors / consultants to close their planning / project control issues.

Manage the preparation of the master programme for the project.
Manage and review construction programmes received from contractors and analyse them in line with the contractual requirements.
Preparing design programs for projects under design and guideline programs for projects to be started / under-progress.
Making recommendations for possible acceleration.
Challenge any claims and EOT requests.
Establish and manage the permit approval system.
Review and assess any claims for variations or change orders from the main contractor or client and inform the commercial team of the potential cost impact.
Ensure document control processes and procedures are sufficient to enable proper and recordable transfer of documents between the Project Management Team, the client, contractors, consultants, and other parties.
Preparation and distribution of regular weekly and monthly reports,
Prepare escalation reports for the project management team;
Prepare weekly progress presentations for the employer.
Prepare risk assessment and mitigation plans
Review contracted scopes and project deliverables
Identify any gaps and provide recommendations to close any scope gaps.

Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a Construction related discipline;
Possess 15 years of total experience and at least 5 years’ experience in the Middle East, preferably Saudi Arabia;
Knowledge of current cost, schedule, and document control software (ex: Oracle Primavera P6, Excel, Prism, SAP, and SharePoint)
Strong experience in PCM of major projects;
Experience working in Construction sector and on Claims projects.
Preferably with experience of Military/Defence, Telecom and/or working in a Project Management office;
Demonstrate strong interpersonal and presentation skills;
Independent worker who is able to work well with minimal supervision;
Possess good project background and proven English language technical writing ability and skills.
Western Educated, native english speaker - first language.
