Business Performance and Analytics Manager (AME)

The Role 
Purpose: To dirve and translate business strategy into measurable objectives and metrics to enable regular monitoring and performance measurement against business goals and strategy for the AME Region. To monitor, update and communicate to the business teams as necessary to influence and drive business performance.  Key Roles and Responsibilities  Strategic and Business Planning agenda  * Strategy & Planning - To design and manage the analytical decision support to align with and drive the business strategic agenda. * Business Goals and Objectives - To translate business strategy into measurable objectives and metrics to enable regular monitoring and performance measurement against business goals and strategy. To monitor, update and communicate to the business teams as necessary to influence and drive business performance. * Stakeholder Management - Senior business stakeholder engagement and coordination with Group, Regional and Country Finance and business teams, including support as required for country / regional management meetings (country reviews, ALCO, etc.)  Business Performance Management  * Budgeting - To support the business process for agreement and alignment of budgets (Booked and Origination) and annual 5 year Corporate Plans between relevant business / functions stakeholders. This would cover income, cost, LI, drivers, strategic initiatives and other key strategic items. * Forecasting - To construct, evaluate and embed business forecasts based on risks / opportunities during the year. * MBR - Regular tracking of income by product and creation of monthly Waterfalls to represent revenue projection along with relevant insights on the revenue build elements compared to normal run rates. * Initiatives - Monthly tracking of TB Initiatives (Ecosystem, Cash Focus, SS 2.0 etc.) and regular updates as part of the MBR's based on underlying business analysis, pipeline and implementation reviews.  Others  * MIS Production - Regular production and distribution of standardised MI supporting financial and sales performance (ACE), projects, initiatives, etc, leveraging available information / data across systems to deliver business value add. To drive standardisation and automation of the MI to enhance efficiency. * Costs - Business Cost Management, analysis and cost centre review * Ad hoc - Business Performance adhoc analysis as necessary (sub-product / region / country / client) around specific business objectives to enhance decision making and drive business performance.

The Role 
Head of Governance, Legal, AME and Head of Legal MENA (ex UAE)  We are seeking an experienced lawyer to join the Legal team based in the Dubai International Financial Centre. The key outcomes of this role are to: (i) lead and manage the MENA Legal cluster; and (ii) provide support on legal and governance matters to the Regional GC, AME and the legal team in Africa and Middle East (AME).   Key Roles and Responsibilities  Governance * Responsible for delivering effective governance of the AME regional Legal team.  * Provide proactive advice to the Regional GC, AME, the AME Legal team and requisite committees, on all legal and regulatory issues that have a significant impact on the region, working with external counsel as appropriate (and seek to proactively identify such issues).  * Ensure that any papers being tabled by Legal, or any submissions involving legal matters, at regional governance committees have been reviewed by the regional Legal team and clearly articulate the issues and legal risks involved and any mitigants approved (as appropriate).  * Work with Legal Operational Risk to establish and maintain effective processes (including training, advice and support) to ensure that policies, procedures and standards addressing legal risk are effectively implemented across the regional Legal team in a consistent manner.  * Have an awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.  * Work with local regulators (when required to do so) in an open and cooperative manner.   Strategy and Leadership * Regional leadership of the Country Legal team in MENA (4 persons) and working with the Regional GC to manage legal matters (non-transactional) in MENA and AME as relevant.  * Promote a culture and practice of compliance with legal standards (including conducting business within legal and regulatory requirements, with high ethical standards) within the AME region.  * Lead through example and build an appropriate culture and values. Set an appropriate tone and expectations from the regional Legal team as regards good conduct.  * Embed a Here for good culture in the AME Legal team and comply with (and endeavour to ensure the AME Legal team complies with) the Group Code of Conduct.  * Follow the Group Management Responsibility Policy to ensure effective risk management and the implementation of proper controls across the AME Legal team.  * Support and collaborate with Regional GC, AME to develop effective strategies for identifying horizon risks for Legal.  * Support and provide strategic legal advice (in consultation with the Regional GC, AME ) to the regional teams involved in delivering the Group's commitments to any US or country remediation program, considering any impact for the AME region.  * Support, coordinate and provide strategic legal advice to AME legal team involved in delivering the Group's projects across AME. Act as a central point of contact, as required, to co-ordinate and advocate input from AME Legal team.   People and Talent  * Work with the Regional GC, AME to endeavour to ensure that the AME Legal Team is adequately resourced and staffed by an appropriate number of competent staff sufficiently independent to perform duties objectively, support sustainable business growth and address relevant legal risks (subject to budgetary constraints).  * Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people in the AME Legal team, and ensure that all country lawyers in MENA Legal team are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.  * Promote best practice and lessons learned across the AME Legal team, especially in relation to legal risks and compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies/procedures.   Risk Management * Within the Group's overall Risk Management Framework, establish and maintain an appropriate risk-based approach to assessing, measuring, monitoring, managing and reporting Legal Risk arising in the AME region.  * Act as, or assist the, Process Owner for any Group or Country processes owned by Legal where such processes are executed in the AME region. Be responsible for: (i) the management of such processes in line with the Group's process universe as set out in the Group Operational Risk Framework; and (ii) associated risks, including activities within the processes which are carried out by the businesses or other functions or which are hubbed or outsourced.  * Act as, or assist the, Risk Control Owner for Legal Enforceability and Liability Risks arising in the AME region, as set out in the Group's Risk Management Framework.  * Maintain an awareness and understanding of the top risks facing the Group, the role played in managing them and how these relate to AME.   Regulatory and Business Conduct * Displays exemplary conduct and live by the Group's values and Code of Conduct.  * Works on embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across the Group. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.  * Effectively and collaboratively identifies, escalates, mitigates and resolves risk, conduct and compliance matters. 
Requirements 
* Educational background in Law to degree level/post-graduate & professional studies as necessary to fulfil this role.  * Qualified Lawyer with minimum 8 years post qualification experience. Technical knowledge and experience of laws in the Middle East with advanced critical and analytical skills.  * A proactive, inquisitive approach to practices, procedures and specific transactions  * Advanced leadership and management skills. Strong leadership qualities and demonstrated success in the ability to effectively manage and lead large and geographically dispersed legal teams across a complex financial institution.  * Effective communicator and team player.  * Understanding of risk management techniques. Track record of providing legal advice in difficult areas and the proactive management of legal risks.  * Sound judgment of business practices, regulatory relationship management and reputational risk.  * Exemplary integrity, ethics, independence and resilience.  * Able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a high pressure environment.
