Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
• Communicating with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, sector/discipline business plans.
• Providing Design Management and Liasion with the Global Excellence Outsourcing Centre.
• Proactively managing selected projects (or components of projects), taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors, managing the production of analysis and design (including drawings and reports), ensuring the integrity of the overall design (in collaboration with other design disciplines), quality assurance and client feedback
• Liaising with the Project Manager or Director and the client to keep informed of all developments, changes/modifications associated with the project
• Identifying opportunities and driving implementation of re-engineering strategies to maximise the profitability of design components
• Gaining a good understanding of the background of the client’s business and industry to facilitate building effective and enduring relationships and consolidating both company and personal credibility in the industry
• Providing leadership, direction and technical advice to project team members, taking a proactive role in developing team members to their full potential, leading by example to achieve sector/divisional goals and championing a quality, innovative and entrepreneurial culture
• Being familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H & S regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team
• Providing reassurance, confidence and a sense of direction to both client and project team members
• Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or Hyder
• Relevant engineering degree and professional services or related engineering background preferred
• Post-graduate qualifications an advantage
• At least 10 year’s post-graduate experience, including supervising aspects of a project of significant scale, application of standards
• Good motivation, influencing, people management and delegation skills
• Ability to think in an innovative and entrepreneurial manner with good understanding of commercial aspects of a project

Role Description:
Provide comprehensive survey capability in support of delivery of complete construction supervision services across defined local roads and drainage projects.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain robust quality assurance arrangements (processes and procedures) that support “right first time” delivery of land survey services
• Process land/utility survey inspection requests within defined timescales and ensure robust records of inspections are maintained
• Interrogate Design and As-Built drawings to confirm accuracy of information and identify errors/information gaps
• Utilise EDM/Total Station and GPS to chart coordinates of site features above and below ground in accordance with Qatar Survey Manual
• Convert raw data strings to CAD format drawings, in line with the Qatar CAD Manual.
• Produce OGL surveys, progress surveys for contractor payments and as-built surveys throughout the life cycle of defined projects.
• Provide expert advice in relation to application of standard methods of measurement (SMM7/CESMM3)
• Monitor and report in relation to quality assurance performance across projects 
• Liaise with PMC/contractors on a regular basis and build relationships in parallel with maintaining compliance with formal communication routes adopted by the Supervision Consultant
• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering)
• Minimum of ten (10) years postgraduate experience.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in major road/drainage project design or construction.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in in-ground infrastructure construction contract administration.
• Experience in supervising wet/dry utility installation and local roads construction preferably with interdisciplinary co-ordination.
• Knowledge of QCS, QSDDM and/or international design standards.

Forensic Planning Engineer - Roads & Drainage

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to work on one of our major projects in Qatar.

Role Summary 
Provision of technical expertise in the analysis and challenge of contractors’ claims for extensions of time and related (prolongation/disruption) costs and support in the management of commercial disputes.

Role Responsibilities
• Assist the Supervision Leadership team in generating and maintaining a contractually focused delivery culture with due regard for the schedule implications of management decisions taken.
• Support project site teams in the review and approval of contractors’ baseline schedules and in subsequent schedule impact analysis of proposed changes and baseline schedule updates.
• Ensure progress/delay data is captured in a systematic and robust manner across all projects, providing expert direction to project planning resources to enable efficient analysis of potential delay/disruption claims.
• Support the team to issue the necessary reports on regular basis to demonstrate any program deviation and recommend mitigations actions required.
• Review and analyse contractors’ delay notifications and extension of time claims and prepare recommendations in support of Engineer’s determinations.
• Assist the team to demonstrate the time impact for any proposed changes / SI or VO to help the client to take the appropriate decision.
• Identify project schedule risks to assist in preparing the risk management plan and highlighting the impact on the baseline schedule.
• Conduct regular site visits with contractors to maintain oversight of progress and participate in progress meetings to maintain awareness of delivery issues that may become delay events.
• Liaise with PMC/PWA and contractors and build relationships in parallel with maintaining compliance with formal communication routes adopted by the Supervision Consultant.

Relationships
• Site Supervision Team Planning Engineers in support of forensic planning efforts.
• PMC Planning Engineers to maintain alignment of recommendation output.
• EBD Planning Expert to build trust and mutual respect.
• Bachelor's Degree (Engineering)
• Minimum of twenty (20) years (P1) or fourteen (14) years (P2) postgraduate experience
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in planning of construction/infrastructure projects, minimum of 4 years within roads projects
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in forensic schedule analysis and management of contractual delay claims, predominantly representing the Client’s position 
• Expert in use of Primavera P6 and associated planning/delay analysis software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• PMP or APMP Certified (preferred)
• Middle East Experience (preferred)

Role Description:
Provide comprehensive materials assurance and engineering duties across defined local roads and drainage projects, supporting the Resident Engineer in delivering a complete construction supervision service.

Responsibilities:
• Adhere to robust quality assurance arrangements (processes and procedures) that support “right first time” delivery of materials engineering services
• Review and provide recommendations to the Senior Resident Engineer in relation to approval of contractor material submittals.
• Discuss deviations from specification with Resident Engineers and develop recommendations to progress project delivery whilst maintaining appropriate quality standards
• Provide supervisory oversight of contractor’s materials testing activities and witness testing both in the laboratory and on site
• Process materials inspection requests within defined timescales and ensure robust records of inspections are maintained
• Monitor and report in relation to quality assurance performance across projects 
• Liaise with PMC/PWA and contractors on a regular basis and build relationships in parallel with maintaining compliance with formal communication routes adopted by the Supervision Consultant
• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering)
• Minimum of ten (10) years postgraduate experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in major road/drainage project design or construction.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in in-ground infrastructure construction contract administration.

• Experience within GCC (preferred).

Responsibilities:
• Inspect site conditions for suitability prior to construction
• Observe, check and record works execution is in accordance with approved methods
• Ensure all electrical/mechanical works and installations are executed according to project requirements

The candidate has 10 years’ experience working in a similar role. Candidates will have experience in working on Major Infrastructures (Pumping stations, Sewerage, Potable water).
