Within Ernst & Young's Assurance service line, Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) professionals provide advisory services to a wide range of clients covering a very broad spectrum of services including-

Client Responsibilities 

• Lead Financial Accounting Advisory Services engagements
• IFRS 17 implementation
• Insurance accounting and regulatory reviews including review of policies, risk management procedures, Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and control environment 
• Review/ develop insurance policies
• Practical experience of working with actuaries 
• Advising clients on operating and finance model for insurers 
• Financial instruments accounting and valuation
• Work effectively as a lead sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating partner on progress
• Review reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties
• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel
• Build strong internal relationships with other service lines across the organization

People Responsibilities 

• Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff
• Contribute to people-related initiatives including recruiting and retaining Finance professionals
• Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills of staff
Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree and approximately 7 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 4 years of related work experience 
• An undergraduate or master's degree in accounting and/or other appropriate academic major
• At least 4 years of experience working for a public accounting 
• Detailed knowledge of Life and Non-Life Insurance products, pricing and accounting treatments 
• Strong advisory (selling) mindset 
• CPA/ CA/ ACCA certification 
• Strong technical skills and recognized cautious risk management ability 
• Strong management skills to lead teams, delegate appropriately, mentor, review performance and counsel employees 
• Fluent written and verbal English communication ability
• Ability and comfort level in researching client inquires and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices and new technologies 
• Flexibility and willingness to travel on short notice, as necessary
• Demonstrated track record with a blue chip consulting organization and/ or blue chip organization

Account Centric BDE

Inspiring a winning momentum in the Core is not a “nice to have”; it is central to the achievement of our vision. We are therefore taking deliberate steps to energize the Core and to better enable our partners to win in this space. We see this as a critical component of Vision 2020 and a key driver of EY’s growth agenda. To ensure alignment and consistency in the execution of the strategy, the Account-Centric BDE will report to the Region’s BDL, or designee within the BD organization.

Some key activities would be:
• Working with the GCSP and account team to achieve the goals for Global TER, margin and sales/pipeline
• Advising the GCSP on account planning and the account strategy
• Helping the GCSP to develop broad and deep client relationships
• Serving as a strategic advisor to the GCSP on Service Line integration, pipeline execution, deal review, pricing and negotiation strategies
• Engaging with engagement teams in the field to support them on their most important pursuits
• Supporting the account team to create and execute a plan to develop critical business relationships across the account

The Account-Centric BDE will be dedicated to one or multiple Core accounts and will be responsible for the following four key areas:
• Opportunity management: 40%

About the opportunity:

In FAAS, we work with our clients’ finance teams and wider organisations to think through accounting issues and implement practical, hands-on accounting support and solutions in times of change. As well as providing accounting and regulatory support, we participate in major transactions, offering deal structuring, financial due diligence and post-transaction support services, as well as a wide range of other services including on-call advice, IPO support, dispute resolution and finance team training.

FAAS comprises a multidisciplinary team of accounting, tax, and IT professionals with deep, sector-specific experience in managing the implementation of accounting changes, ranging from a single accounting standard to the full project planning and global implementation of IFRS or operational changes following a transaction.

Our services go far beyond traditional accounting advice. We help CFOs, audit committees, treasurers, and other top financial executives understand all types of changes and assess the impact on their businesses.

In this role you will:
• Work directly with a wide range of clients across several industries to assess the impact of new accounting standards, proposed transactions or other regulatory changes
• Build and maintain strong networks internally and externally in order to grow the pipeline of FAAS work
• Report directly to Managers, Senior Managers, Directors and Partners at the planning, execution and wrap-up stages of FAAS engagements
• Coach and mentor junior team members
• Ensure work is of a high quality, delivered in a timely fashion and in compliance with EY policies
• Work with other EY locations, service lines and specialists to deliver a fully integrated service offering
• Monitor engagement economics against key financial metrics and manage the appropriate internal and external stakeholders

• Ensure that the FAAS work products meet the needs and expectations of clients are clear, accurate and well presented

• A bachelor\'s degree in finance and/or accounting. Masters would be preferred
• At least 3 years of experience working as an auditor/consultant or technical resource for a public accounting firm

• Solid team working skills with the ability to work with different people from diverse backgrounds in the diverse FAAS team
